The care of the vineyards
La Raia’s clay limestone land lies at around 400 meters above sea level.
this is where we organically cultivate the indigenous Cortese and Barbera grapes with the biodynamic method. Our philosophy, and commitment, is to create the most authentic and flavoursome wines possible.
The vineyards are planted with a density of 4,500 vines per hectare.
The Cortese vines have ages from 9 to 70 years: we make Pisé with the oldest vines.
The Barbera vineyard is situated on a well drained south facing slope and is planted with cuttings from a rigorous selection of the finest and oldest plants of the region.
