Holiday season at Locanda La Raia

A programme that encourages to give oneself time and enjoy the Locanda’s typicality: its home atmosphere, the good cuisine and the chance to relax in the Gavi nature. 

At Locanda the holiday begins at Christmas day: we'll be open with a delicious menu dedicated to the typical family lunch. For New Year’s Eve and Day, we offer 2- and 3-night packages and the seafood and landfare dinner by Michelin-starred chef Tommaso Arrigoni. 

Our Michelin-starred Chef has personalised the many gastronomic suggestions of the Gavi, land between the Ligurian sea and the Piedmont hills, actualizing some typical Christmas disehs. Such as the Mediterranean appetizer, bread with butter and anchovies and gnocchi with chestnuts, pumpkin and squid, served with crunchy leeks. Tommaso Arrigoni set his cuisine on the availability of excellent seasonal raw materials its strength: Locanda is few kilometers far from the Ligurian towns and is surrounded by vineyards, the fields and the pastures of the estate.

According to tradition the festive season at Locanda La Raia begins early, on December 29th, with a choice of two different packages: a 3-night package or the classical 2-night package that includes December 30th and 31st.

In the afternoon, as soon as the arrive at Locanda, the guests will be welcomed with a flute of spumante brut Tenuta Cucco, the estate at Serralunga d’Alba owned by the Rossi Cairo family. During their stay they will have free access to the SPA, with its heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, the Turkish bath and the sauna, or book a face and body wellness treatment. A cooking masterclass will be held to teach our guests how to prepare the typical local dish par excellence, the Plin ravioli, made following an ancient receipt with three types of meat. A tasting of La Raia biodynamic wines, such as Gavi Pisé, and Tenuta Cucco Piedmont organic red wines will be offered at the Locanda.

December 31st will start with a rich breakfast with homemade bread and cakes and local products. All around the Cortese and Barbera vineyards are a temptation to have a stroll and visit the estate with its site-specific works by international artists commissioned by Fondazione La Raia – arte cultura territorio over the years. Celebrations begin with an aperitif near the large stone fireplace in the sitting room. For dinner, Tommaso Arrigoni has opted for starting with the lean Capon and with one of the Locanda’s typical dishes: the creamy salted codfish brand de cujun. Moreover, potato soft pie with egg yolks, and potato and ginger gnocchi with genuine clams. The dessert is a mousse with mascarpone cheese, spicy bread, chestnuts and red Porto.

At midnight a toast with cotechino, lentils, spumante and a surprise in the sky above the Locanda.

The new year begins with the Locanda’s typical New Year’s Day brunch, and an afternoon of relaxation and chats at the SPA.
